Theft Buy-Down & Security Training - NEW!
UCSF Risk Management and Insurance Services (RMIS) is partnering with EIS to offer an additional incentive for this year’s Theft Buy-Down Deductible Insurance program. The cost of the first year’s license for Pointsec laptop encryption software will be paid for the first 100 users who complete “Information Security and Practices” training from EIS and have Pointsec successfully installed on their laptops (a $100 per license value). You must purchase the coverage and sign up for training by September 17.
If your department has purchased Buy-Down coverage, and suffers a theft-related loss of a laptop computer, RMIS will waive the deductible (i.e. reduce the deductible to $0.00) if:
- Department staff have attended “Information Security and Practices” training offered through EIS’s Security Awareness, Training and Education program.
- The department has installed Pointsec encryption software on the laptop. Local technical support must be trained by EIS to load the Pointsec software. Pointsec is not available to individuals without local technical support. (This software is currently available for PC-based systems – it is unfortunately not available for Macintosh.)
Three "Information Security and Practices" trainings will be scheduled to accommodate the first 100 applicants in the coming weeks. Please see the SATE calendar for date, time, and location. The training is also available to departments: make a request by emailing SATE. Departments are asked to designate a single point of contact to work with SATE to set up trainings and logistics for their department.
To request training for local technical support to install Pointsec on departmental laptops, please follow these instructions.
